About Our Care
Honoring life with compassion, dignity, and expert care — every step of the way.
The Heart of Hospice Care
Hospice is not about giving up — it's about choosing to focus on what matters most: comfort, quality of life, and being surrounded by the people you love.
At Santa Maria Hospice, we believe every person deserves to live their remaining days with dignity, free from unnecessary pain, and supported by a team that truly cares. Our approach centers on the whole person — addressing physical symptoms, emotional needs, and spiritual well-being.
We serve patients in their homes, assisted living facilities, skilled nursing homes, and hospitals throughout Santa Maria, Orcutt, Guadalupe, Nipomo, Lompoc, Santa Ynez Valley, Buellton, Solvang, Los Alamos, and surrounding communities. Wherever you call home, we bring our care to you.
We are proud to serve families of all cultural and religious backgrounds. With Spanish-speaking staff available, we ensure that every family in our diverse community can communicate comfortably and receive the care they deserve.
Hospice care is a Medicare benefit — fully covered under Medicare Part A for eligible patients. We also accept Medicaid and most private insurance plans.
Our Guiding Principles
Three pillars form the foundation of every interaction, every care plan, every moment we share with our patients and their families.
Comfort
Expert symptom management so every moment can be lived fully, free from unnecessary pain and distress.
Dignity
Honoring each person's wishes, values, and autonomy — because every life story deserves a respectful final chapter.
Family
Surrounding patients and loved ones with support, education, and care that extends far beyond medical treatment.
"The goal is not to add days to life, but to add life to days."
